Children's Minister

The Children’s Minister is directly responsible for leading the Children’s Ministry at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Children’s Minister is responsible for ordering and implementing approved curriculum for the spiritual formation of children. With energetic leadership abilities, the Children’s Minister executes current ministry programs/events and comes up with creative ideas for continuing to engage children. The Children’s Minister also leads Sunday children’s worship services and all children’s ministry volunteers.


Primary Responsibilities and Tasks of the Children’s Minister

  1. Oversee all ministry activities for children (ages birth–5th grade), including Sunday mornings and special events.
  2. Teaching and preaching in children’s worship services.
  3. Choose and lead the preparation of age-appropriate curriculum for each age level.
  4. Create programming and engaging activities quarterly that facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth.
  5. Recruit, train, and schedule teams of children’s ministry volunteers.
  6. Plan, schedule, and oversee special events such as Spring Fling (Easter Egg Hunt), VBS, Trunk or Treat (Fall Festival) & Christmas Program.
  7. Quarterly Children’s event/outing.
  8. Manage check-in procedures on Sundays.
  9. Any other reasonable duties asked by the Senior Pastor


This is a part-time, salaried position around 8-10 hours a week.

  • 2.5 hours on Sunday - 9:45 am – 12:15 pm (Sunday School, Children’s moment, and Children’s Church)
  • 3 hours of planning and preparation for Sunday (days TBD by CM)
  • Special weekday occasions include, but are not limited to, Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
  • Most weeks will not require 10 hours of work; weeks like Vacation Bible School will require additional hours.
  • Plan and follow through with a quarterly activity for children (i.e. hike/picnic, Stone Mtn., zoo, etc.)
