Memorial Day Weekend Sunday Service
On the Sunday preceding Memorial Day, Trinity will honor the memory of those who have sacrificed for their country. We will also recognize all who have served in the armed services, present generation and past. Glenn Abernathy has spearheaded gathering photos and information for the day. We'll present them in the 11:00 Service. A Color Guard will help us give the recognition due. A covered-dish lunch in Trinity Hall will follow the service.
We wil have video clips of interviews of some of Trinity's World War II veterans. To the right is a preview (rough cut) of our interview with 88-year old Trinity member, J.E. Garrett. His stories, as well as the others', will touch and inspire us all to new appreciation of their service, and new gratitude to God, who has preserved our nation through such as these! Support Missions While Publix Shopping!
The Murphy-Harpst Children's Home in Cedartown, GA is a mission institution of the whole United Methodist Church (the Children's Home in Decatur is a ministry of North Georgia Methodists). They work to reclaim the most severely emotionally-damaged of our children and have a wonderful record of success. If you are a Publix shopper, you can show them this card each time you shop and a portion of your purchase goes to support M/H, without adding to your grocery bill. Cards are available each Sunday on the literature table in the back of the sanctuary..
Our Superintendent
Meet Rev. Richard Chewning, the newly appointed District Superintendent of the Gainesville District. For the last 14 years he has been the pastor of the Greensboro First United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Susan, have two sons, Jonathan and Matthew.
There will be a Installation Service on Sunday afternoon, July 10, at 3:00 p.m. at Gainesville First UMC, followed by a reception. Please plan to join the Underwoods in welcoming the Chewnings to the Gainesville District. Click the Advocate banner above to read the latest online edition!
