OUR PASTOR - Rev. Don Underwood

Rev. Underwood was appointed Trinity's pastor in June of 2008. He is an elder in the North Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church. Ordained in 1981, he began preaching in 1974 while a student at Emory-at-Oxford. He is a graduate of Oxford College of Emory University, Georgia State University, and the Candler School of Theology, Emory. He grew up in Newton County (Covington, GA) and was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church in the Oak Hill community.
Beyond the local church, Don has served as an Assistant Secretary of the Annual Conference and as Co-Editor and Editor of The North Georgia Conference Journal, the annual publication documenting the work of the Annual Conference. He has preached revivals and campmeetings through the years. He has been webmaster of the websites of the Atlanta-Marietta and Northwest Districts. In 1988 Don attended the North Georgia Walk to Emmaus (Men's No. 8) retreat and since then has served on many Emmaus Retreat Teams, and for several years was the Spiritual Director of the Atlanta South Walk to Emmaus Community.
Don and Alice were married in 1975 and have three sons: Ben, Jonathan, and Will. Ben and his wife, Carrie, live in Chicago; Jonathan, in Chattanooga; and Will, home with his parents for one more year of High School at North Hall. Alice has worked off-and-on through the years as a hospital nurse, but now enjoys being a stay-at-home mom.
